HP always makes Windows and wireless users as easy as possible with preinstalled features on their HP devices that help keep it running smoothly. Preparing the HP Officejet 5255 printer for wireless connection starts on the Windows operating system by connecting the printer to the desired wireless network (Wi-Fi), then installing the latest printer software from the software inventory on HP. Unlike USB selection, here users have to select Wireless when the connection type is requested.
Step 1: Key Components for wireless installation and configuration
Preparing a wireless network configuration for HP Officejet printers starts with assembling and assembling essential components such as network name, password, desktop / laptop and a working broadband / Wi-Fi internet connection.

  • Create a simple checklist of items required for a successful wireless setup for the HP Officejet 5255 printers.
  • Collect and assemble the following essential items.
  • Network name and password: The network name is the identification of the set of services commonly known as the SSID. The pairing password for the network name is always the WEP or WPA security key.
  • Desktop computer / laptop and active wireless network to which the workstation can connect.
  • Internet Connection and Availability - It is highly recommended that you use the broadband Internet connection for uninterrupted Internet access to download drivers and software, web services, and regular driver updates.
If the wireless router and desktop / laptop computer are not already turned on, turn them on. This same wireless network must sync with the computer and the printer, which is a non-negotiable factor. The HP OfficeJet 5252 router, computer, and printer trio must be kept within wireless range.

Make sure there is no wiring connection between the printer that contains both Ethernet and USB.
Step 2: Facilitate the Wireless Network Connection Using the Wireless Configuration Wizard
HP simplifies the connection process by using the Wireless Configuration Assistant utility. It greatly helps users to connect the printer to an active wireless network, making it easy to install the HP printer installer during installation.

  • Go to the control panel of the HP Officejet 5255 printer and gently touch the wireless icon displayed at home
  • Touch the settings carefully
  • In the control panel you will find the wireless configuration wizard that must be gently pressed to activate.
  • Identify the desired network name from the list and press OK.
  • Sometimes your network name may not be registered for various reasons, so you can enter the network name by touching "Enter a new network name" and following the on-screen instructions.
  • Then enter the WPA or WEP key and then press Finish. An overview screen may appear immediately. Look for connection error messages and the ultimate cause can be case sensitive because both the network name and passwords are case sensitive.
  • As a final step, press OK to return to the main Control Panel screen.
Step 3: Download Drivers and Install Later
HP Full Feature printer software is absolutely essential and can be downloaded from the HP website. Make sure to download the latest version and then proceed with the installation. If you have an installation CD, it may also work.
